Can anyone explain the fascination that people have with the image below? I just don't get it. I know a number of people who have that, and I just don't get it.
BTW, I learned a new word yesterday: marquetry. This site shows some amazing examples.

I can't explain the fascination with that particular image...but after looking up "marquetry" I can see the fascination with that in general. Sounds like quite a process.
If I had to guess about the image, I would guess the absurdity just strikes a cord.
Ummmm..... No answer.
But wow I enjoyed the wander at the link. Those folks are truly talented!
Well I like the image because of how the background flows, but I wouldn't buy it and put it on my wall... Hmm...can't explain, I guess!
I have never seen that painting before.. is it done by someone famous?
I wouldn't be all that fascinated by it..lol
I've seen that print. I didn't buy it, but it did keep me occupied for a time looking and thinking about it. It felt like rich folk were dancing in the storm with no worries, while their serving staff was enduring the storm with discomfort.
That makes me wonder what sort of person likes this? Do they see it as romantic... couples who only see each other and not the storm? Or do they see it as power... as in a desire to be the boss vs the lowly servant?
I think I thought about it too much.
Huh, I thought everyone had seen that. I guess it's just a lot of people I know. Maybe I should ask one of them!
SR - yeah, I just don't understand! And maybe just a little too much ;-)
