This and That, These and Those

I had a really good title yesterday, but of course I forgot. I've been absent - I'm sure you've missed me horribly. Perhaps I can't focus on work because I've been away so long! I've been thinking about life (it all started when a climbing friend asked what I thought life was all about - he is married with no kids, I have no kids - so what's our purpose here?) and someday I'll likely share what's been on my mind. Overall I've gotten to a pretty decent place. I hope I stay here! (I write that like I have no control over it. I write that with the wavering belief in myself.)

In the meantime, here's a few photos from my ski weekend. I may post more. I had two spectacular falls - thankfully one on each day. The first one I was laughing because I knew I was going to fast and couldn't control myself and went down. Reminds me I have to check for the bruise on my hip. The second was one of those 'good thing I was wearing a helmet' falls. Skis, poles, legs akimbo. I had to sit still for a few minutes to get myself together. And that ended that ski day.

A snowboarder's final resting place. Such a shame to die so young.

A young skier reacts to the death. But is she saying "oh the humanity!" or "praise be to God, one less snowboarder on the earth"?

It was a female mountain. It wanted the hearts.

That's an amazing view in that last photo. Plus, I like that you gave the mountain some flowers. :)

You are very chipper and funny for being so full of doubts and deep thoughts.
If I may offer an brief opinion, I don't think our only purpose in life is to reproduce. It is a nice idea and tends to make us feel better, but it isn't for everyone.

Holy cow what a view. And look at that snow.

Someone asked me the meaning to life the other day.
Almost popped off with "42" but I didn't think they were looking for a laugh.

Perhaps it's not so much what meaning life brings to us as it is about what meaning we bring to life?
Could be.....
