Quote from my calendar

Friends are helpful not only because they will listen to us, but because they will laugh at us; Through them we learn a little objectivity, a little modesty, a little courtesy; We learn the rules of life and become better players of the game.

Will Durant

It's on the University of New Hampshire Institute for Disability calendar. This particular page is done by the Seacoast Child Development Clinic.

I agree with it, but am a little scared by the last bit. Because the rules of life are not always good rules, and playing the game better is a good thing, but it would be nice if there were no game. But, again, that's not real life.

Mama G says manners are the rules of life.
She's getting more southern every day...

If life really is a game, I think the rules are a bit like this.

With my luck, I'm probably playing the wrong game anyway.

Ah, yes, good manners will get you far.
And squirrel, you are so very correct.
Churlita, thus you make up your rules. See Squirrel above. :-)

Rules are made to be broken, right?

I'll make some rules up over the weekend while I'm mixing batches of my infused vodkas and tequilas...I'm sure the fumes will inspire me ;)

Yes, Susan, and some are better at that than others!
WNG - infused tequilas?

there are rules, Rules and RULES. each to be disregarded or bent as you please. each carries a specific penalty. the trick is to decide for yourself just how many rules you're willing to break and how serious these rules are.

and to be able to tell which rule is which...

Just have to find new ways to win at the game...change the strategy.

I make my own rules as I go. I follow some of the rules that exist, but do not care some of the others. So, I create new ones for me.

Heather, so would something that lands you in jail be breaking a Rule or a RULE?
Evile-sounds good to me!
