Image for today
As I put stuff into my car this morning I heard a bird song. I looked up, and there was a cardinal at the top of a large bush sitting in the early early morning sun, singing. I just stood there and watched him for a while. I had never associated that song with cardinals, so I wanted to listen a while. Plus, it was beautiful seeing him in the morning light. A nice moment of peace.

As I took my early morning walk today, I also saw a cardinal; I looked up and started whistling at him, and almost fell flat on my ass on the icy sidewalk. It was a different sort of moment. More slapstick comedy than peaceful.
That's hilarious! thanks..
gotta love peaceful moments. glad you got to hear the cardinal's song. it's a pretty one. :-)
I saw a little bitty yellow and black finch today but the peaceful moment ended when my cat saw it as well.
You have to love the cardinal's, they are my state bird after all!
Heather, it's true right that birds have different songs? I know one sound that cardinals make, but this one I hadn't heard.
Es, oh, hopefully your cat didn't get it, right?
Belle, WV right?
Hmm... if you start seeing birds in your coffee, please call a doctor.
When my daughter was in kindergarten, she told me that when a female cardinal sang she said, "pretty, pretty, pretty". Now everytime I hear it, I know exactly what kind of bird it is.
I think I'm going to go for a walk now..
I heard that chickadees sing 'drink your tea', so I hear that all the time.
They do sound very nice in the morning. Glad you were able to witness that amidst all of the other images you have encountered.
