Life Sucks and then your cat dies

I received a call last night from my husband that Cleo was bleeding out of a spot no living thing should bleed out of. So, we rushed her to the hospital, and of course given her condition and age, I elected to put her down. She was a very good cat, the first one I had on my own, a wonderful mom to her kittens, a wonderful example to other cats in the house, playful, loving, and yes, occasionally a pain the ass. Thankfully I had spent some time with her Saturday - had even succumbed to her pleading eyes to get the leftover milk from my breakfast cereal. She will be remembered with love.

how very sad but "remembering her with love" is a good thing. besos

Aw, I'm so sorry. :( We've had to make a few decisions like that for our pets, and although it would mean they won't suffer anymore, it still is a painful loss to your family.

I outlived all my childhood pets. I always hate that part.

Thanks all. I thought I'd share the best and worse non blog responses (both are ex-boyfriends):

Best:
I'm sorry to hear about Cleo. She was such a great cat. I remember NOT meeting her for some time because all I got to see was a black streak running to hide under a bed, couch, chair, etc. For the longest time, all I got to see where those blinking yellow eyes. I also remember her hiding under the bed for long periods of time when Ruddy came along. And then there was the time I tried to "help" by offering to give Cleo some oral medicine and found out the hard way that not all cats are as easy to give meds to as my cat. I had scars for months. :) But I also remember her being very sweet and loving once she got more comfortable with me being around. She was a wonderful cat and I'm glad she was part of your life, my life and so many others' lives. She was a tribute to cat-hood. My condolences.

Worst:
Sorry to hear about Cleo. I'm all about fewer cats in this world, but still sorry to hear it.

I'm sorry about your kitty. Your ex-boyfriend comments are odd and funny all at the same time.

Yes, odd and funny are usually words to describe most of the people I've dated. And me too for that matter!
