Choose and Defend

Stealing the idea from Laura... And on her day too.

Several times this past weekend I heard this song on the radio: Owner of a lonely heart. So the lyrics say: Owner of a lonely heart, much better than owner of a broken heart. I had several conversations with different friends. Which do you think is better?

Here's the song if you want it:

I don't think I agree. I'm more about being the owner of a broken heart because those can always mend. It means you had the chance to love and be loved--sure, it went to hell but it was there for awhile.

My brother and I would always sing the song, "Owner of a lonely heart, much better than an owner of a smelly fart."

We were eight-year-old boys, and this was the highest form of witticism.

Oh man, I've been the owner of both types (that almost sounds like a country or blues song). Um...I guess I choose owner of a lonely heart. Both can be fixed, but the broken heart seems to take longer to heal.

tough one. But ultimately, I'd say broken over lonely, because the broken heart has felt and tasted love.

Susan and Puss, I agree too. And I thought MRT might weigh in as a guy, since the guy I asked said lonely is better, but then Tara weighed in with lonely so it's NOT a gender thing.

Ooohhh, that is a tough one. I haven't had a broken heart in such a long time. I pretty much want to choose it to break out of my all too familiar Miss Lonely Heart state.

I don't know if I like either choice.
Can I just have an alone heart? I'm not asking to have a happy, in a relationship, heart, but right now, I'm alone without being lonely. And I'm fine with that.

Laura, I understand... And I've only just begun!

Churlita, there you go, playing outside the box again... It's a good spot to be in. If you really are there.

Either will do, frankly--cuz neither is 'bad', they just ARE what they are.

Not much of a defense, eh?

k....keep in mind that this comes from a woman who's very clear that you canNOT guard your heart, though you can lie to yourself under which circumstances it will 'hurt less'.
